Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Kettle 8 gallon size is perfect for full wort boil on 5 gallon batches!

These Heavy Duty stainless steel kettles are thick, hearty, and ready to stand up to years of abuse.

Each kettle has two handles, a lid, and a re-enforced triple layer bottom. A 1mm aluminum plate between two 1.2mm stainless ones, provides for even heat distribution which can reduce the amount of scorching you may encounter, food-grade stainless steel is the only metal in contact with your wort.

Kettle features welded bulkhead fittings, Stainless steel ball valve, 3" thermometer All SS, stay cool handles and lid.

Make bigger beer

This is by Geoff (not Paula)I love this thing.It is so nice to get away from the thin walled turkey fryer style pots.Heavy walls, great valve and clear thermometer.I am using this with a Bayou Classic SP10 High-Pressure Outdoor Gas Cooker.The handles get hot from the cooker so have pot holders ready if you need to move it.unless you already own some, buy some larger channel locks to put the thermometer and ball valve on.Even with Teflon tape I get a bit of leaking around my ball valve, just had to REALLY torque down on it to tighten it.This only happened at high heat.Made a great batch of all grain.

A big improvement...

I made the jump from a thin walled 5 gallon pot to this beefy 8, and have now brewed six batches of all grain. This is a big improvement. The temperature control and accuracy is very good. The valve is not only useful but is also a great safety improvement (boiling liquids...). And the size is essential for all grain brewing of a 5+ gallon fermentation wort. The quality of construction is excellent, with the mass being very temp stabilizing and the handles being very well constructed. I did buy the false bottom but have not yet used it. Instead I made a cooler tun with a stainless mesh manifold - took about three hours, not difficult. The combination of the two is very helpful. Remember, this is a heavy pot when filled with 7 gallons on top of its original weight. It takes a while to boil on a high quality kitchen stove. And it is not cheap - but is high quality and value.

The description is completely wrong

I'm surprised the reviews are not as bad as they should be. The description of the kettle as well as the picture are completely inaccurate. There is a big difference between welded and weld-less kettle designs. The description and picture clearly state the kettle has two welded ports with NPT fittings (pipe thread). Welded fittings do not leak, pipe thread valve and thermometer are simple to install and will not leak. This kettle has weld-less design which means it uses straight threads and an O-ring to make a seal. All though this design is inferior and much cheaper it's not the end of the world, the problem with this particular kettle is this design. First the holes are too big and second the leaks are generated at the O-ring to thread interface. A quality weld-less fitting should provide a smooth surface for the O-ring to compress around the fitting when tightened. This design only has the threads so you have to try to compress the O-ring into the depth of the threads. The kettle was shipped with the valve and thermometer installed. The unit was in a box within a box with no packing material. Sure enough the valve was hit and bent the pot, closer inspection shows a crack in the kettle from the valve hole about an inch long, clear across the sealing surface. Finally there was another dent on the opposite side. With all that said I would probably still kept the kettle because like many others said, you can't find a pot with a clad bottom and a SS valve and thermometer for the price. However the crack makes it useless. The only reason I give it more than one star is because the kettle itself is not bad. What a shame the seller does not correct the description and picture to tell the truth. It has been wrong for years. I read the reviews but guessed they must have changed to welded based on the description and picture. Somebody in this company is clearly intentionally misleading Amazon patrons. Read the reviews and take a look at the description and the second picture and ask yourself why would the company not fix the false advertisement in all these years?
